Master The 5 Fundamentals of Weight Loss

By Brad Isaac Want to lose weight? You are not alone. Studies show 65% of Americans tried some form of weight loss last year, yet only 20% of those people were successful. Why the discrepancy? Why are some people able to shed those unwanted pounds while others just keep packing them on and increasing their waist measurements? If you want to be in that 20 % who were successful with your next weight loss attempt, there are five major things you can do to ensure your success. 1. Pick a diet or an eating plan that actually works for you. Dont choose the tomato soup diet if you hate tomatoes. Similarly, its pretty difficult to follow a high protein diet if you hate meat. Choose something that meets your eating needs, and youll have a much easier time sticking to it. 2. Keep track of your progress. If you want to lose ten pounds, but you never step on the scale, its going to be impossible to tell if youve actually met your weight loss goals. Dont be afraid of those numbers on the scale, theyre the best way to tell if youre meeting your goals. 3. Set realistic weight loss goals for yourself. Nobody loses twenty-five pounds in two weeks. Our bodies simply just dont function that way. Most experts suggest weight loss of two to four pounds per week is both the average and healthy way to lose weight. 4. Eliminate the danger foods. If you know chocolate is a weakness, yet you walk by a candy store every day, change your route. Keep the junk food out of your kitchen, and you wont be as tempted to break into it at eleven p.m. some night. Try to set yourself up for success instead of failure, and youll likely end up in that twenty percent. 5. Burn more calories than you eat. The bottom line to weight loss is allowing your body to burn some of the calories it has as stored fat. No diet will keep the weight off if you consume more calories than you burn, so as you evaluate plans, be sure that they do what your body needs to make the weight loss process work. Fuel Your Body… Don’t Feed That Craving!

By Kristina Haisten Go ahead and confess: Youre completely addicted to potato chips. Your determination weakens every time you think about munching into one, hearing the crunch, and getting that first taste of its salty flavor. If you don’t flip over chips, there’s probably another food that lures you into the refrigerator or the pantry. According to one study, 97% of women (compared to 68% of men) experience food cravings. How do you control these urges that send you spiraling away from your diet plan toward an unrestrained binge? I have researched this topic to give you sound advice on how to enjoy eating even a forbidden food without turning it into a feeding frenzy. Read on – and never again feel guilty about eating a piece of chocolate. Take Charge of Your Eating Habits. Try to control the number of food cravings you experience. It seems to be impossible, but if you use the power of your mind to psyche yourself and develop fewer cravings, then slowly you’ll submit to fewer cravings. According to one study of nearly 500 women, researchers found that women who received 200 milligrams of calcium daily reduced their number of premenstrual food cravings by 54%. Skim milk and yogurt are good sources that wont add a lot of calories. But what if youre lactose intolerant? Try a calcium-fortified orange juice or cereal with added calcium. If you don’t feel you can get sufficient calcium from food, you can use a calcium supplement like Caltrate or a nutritional juice like Fruta Vida that contains calcium. Find ways to relax and reduce stress. When you’re anxious, your body produces more of the hormone cortisol, which may increase your desire for sweets and carbohydrates. Sweets and carbohydrates temporarily increase our levels of serotonin, making us feel calm and relaxed. Try instead to calm down by exercising, meditating, practicing yoga, taking a long walk or better yet, a long bubble bath. Make sure you can distinguish specific cravings from real hunger. Suppose youre driving by a fast food restaurant and all of a sudden, you have an intense craving for french fries. Rather than turning into the drive thru, reassess your urge. Turn on your favorite music and switch your attention away from the fries. But what if it really is hunger and you dont have time to find anything else? Then go inside, but order a salad and a diet coke. Dont be afraid to give to your craving every once in a while. Learn how to have a small amount of your favorite treat and watch what happens. When you begin including small amounts of these forbidden foods into your diet, a funny thing happens: You don’t crave them anymore. To allow yourself that little luxury, cut hundreds of unnecessary calories from your daily diet. Cut Those Calories! Absolutely, you can cut on hundreds of calories on what you eat every day! How? By making appropriate choices and replacing high-calorie foods such as cheese, creams, whole milk and butter with low-calorie alternatives. Here are easy tricks to keep you cooking and eating minus the calories. When cooking, use a nonstick pan to reduce the use of butter and/or oil. Remove the fat from the meat. Remove the skin of chicken before serving. Use butter-flavored seasoning on vegetables instead of real butter. For casseroles, desserts and sauces use evaporated skim milk (12 cal. /tbsp.) instead of heavy cream (51 cal. /tbsp.) Cook stews and other casseroles ahead of time. Refrigerate. Remove congealed fat before serving. Choose a real orange (71 cal.) over orange juice (90 cal./6 oz). Low-calorie vegetables and fruits (cucumbers, asparagus, carrots, apples, and broccoli) are good replacements for crackers and chips. Use two egg whites (34 cal.) for cakes instead of one egg (82 cal.). Choose diet margarine (50 cal.) instead of the regular margarine (100 cal.). Choose cereals with the least sugar and lots of fiber, then add fresh fruit for more flavor. At parties, good substitutes for snacks are carrot sticks, celery sticks, pickle slices, and raw mushroom caps. These are all great with dips. Grill your hamburgers and always choose a lean beef. Fueling your body with nutritional food and not feeding a craving depends on the right attitude. You have the power to choose. Cutting calories can sometimes reduce important vitamins and minerals in your diet. Details Of Lawn Mower Blades

By Andrew Caxton The lawnmower blades are made of tool steel or ordinary steel called mild steel or carbon steel. The edges of the blades made of tool steel remain sharp for longer time and will require lesser sharpening over the age of the blade. Tool steel blade is costly and generally cannot be sharpened at the DIY workshop. The mild steel or carbon steel is cheaper and easy to maintain. The blades have to be kept sharp. If this is not done, grass blades will be torn off instead of being cut. Apart from the obvious ugly look, the growth of grass blades is adversely affected as the moisture retention capacity of blade is reduced. Sharpening Of Lawnmower Blades the DIY Way You can sharpen the lawnmower blades your self quickly and easily. This operation can take a very short time. The procedure is very easy and you can do it yourself. The following procedure will apply irrespective of the type of lawnmower. Consult the operation manual of your lawnmower for removal of blades. Be sure to disconnect all the power sources before begin with the process. In case that your lawn mower was a battery powered one, then remove the battery or batteries, depending on the model. Check twice that all the power controls are off to avoid an accidental engine start. The second step will be finished as soon as you remove the blades totally from the mower. You might need external help to achieve it, using a couple of spanners may help a lot, however be sure that it doesnt slip. BE careful while doing this, because its easy to cut yourself whether the spanner slips. Once the blades are out of the mower, you need the number them in order to fit them back later. Fix a blade in a stable holding or a vice to work easily. The sharpen process begins here. You will need a grinder or file for it. Make sure to follow the blades contour and sharpen it to your convenience. Sharpen all blades using the same sharpened to a perfect later cutting grass. Time to refit the blades along. Make sure to do it along with balancing, if it exists any. There is an option of sharpen blades without removing them from the mower, however its uncomfortable as well as more difficult. You will also need a flexible shaft angle grinder to a perfect sharpened, which will save you time. The last step is the blade balance checking. To carry the blades balancing you need a balancer. A clue to find whether or not the blades are correctly refitted, is checking if the mower vibrates, if so then blades are not well balanced. Andrew Caxton contributes adding reviews and special articles regularly to http://www.lawn-mowers-and-garden-tractors.com A gardening website that carries interesting readings on lawn equipment and lawn mower parts, including how to sharpen blades http://www.lawn-mowers-and-garden-tractors.com/lawn-mower-blades.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Andrew_Caxton http://EzineArticles.com/?Details-Of-Lawn-Mower-Blades&id=121449 short term loan legal in new york new york private personal loan unsecured installment bad credit personal loan florida online car loan

Learn the Truth About Weight Loss and Getting Great Abs

By Gregg Gillies Debunking The Ab Myth Ab training has been done to death but it’s time to take another look. Why? Because people are still training their abs wrong so all that ab training information must not be doing the job. 1 – No Spot Reducing – Endless crunches will not melt away the fat from your midsection. It just doesn’t work that way. And despite the “burn” of high rep ab exercises, you barely burn any calories while doing those endless crunches. Your fat burning time is best spent elsewhere on more effective training. You also don’t work the ab muscle intensely enough to develop it. So endless high rep crunches fail on both counts – poor muscle building and poor fat burning. Two thumbs down as the cliche goes. 2 – The Abs are a Muscle and should be trained as such. You don’t need high reps and lots of sets to work your abs. This just leads to overtraining. Now, abs are a more endurance oriented muscle so slightly higher reps may be more effective. However, you should keep the reps at 20 or lower and work on increasing the resistance. Yes, you should be increasing the weights on ab exercises, just like your other exercises. The stronger your abs, the better they will look when the fat is stripped away. Ever see a really thin guy with a flat stomach but no abs? The abs haven’t been trained and aren’t developed enough to stand out even when the fat is stripped away. 3 – Don’t train the abs – What the heck do I mean by this? Well, your abs get a lot of indirect work from other exercises so you really won’t need more than a couple of hard sets of weighted crunches to work your abs. Your abs are a factor in exercises such as squats, deadlifts, seated or standing presses, dumbbell pullovers, pulldowns, etc. Don’t believe me? Next time you work out, do a few hard sets of standing stiff armed pulldowns on the lat machine and tell me your abs aren’t sore the next day. I did them yesterday and my abs are more sore than my back today. If you want to develop a flat stomach with your abs visible, you need to treat your abs like a muscle and train that way. And you need to strip away the fat with a proper training and nutrition program designed around total fat loss, not trying to spot reduce through endless crunches. Is there anything out there in the fitness world suffering from more misinformation that how to get abs? The number of ab machines constantly coming to market is mind boggling. Especially considering that they aren’t needed and won’t give you the results that you want. Let’s set the record straight on ab training right now and give you the real information you need so you can say no to the next infomercial ab machine and yes to actual abs. 1 – Training your abs consistently will eventually give you the flat stomach or six-pack that you want. No. It’s not gonna happen if your abs are covered by a layer of body fat and doing endless sets of ab exercises is not the way to rid yourself of that excess body fat. 2 – Train your abs everyday for best results. Again, no. Your abs are a muscle, just like your chest, lats, arms and so on. You should train your abs just like these other muscles, with progressive resistance and high intensity – then allow them to rest and recover. Never train your abs more than 3 days a week. 3 – You need to do hundreds or reps and feel the burn to get great abs. Yep, again the answer is no. The abs a muscle just like I mentioned above. To get six pack abs you need to strip off the fat, but you also need to build the abs to get them to really pop out. If the muscle isn’t developed, you’ll just have a flat stomach but no abs. The name of the game is progressive resistance for sets of 8 – 20 reps, just like your other muscles. 4 – Train the abs with lots of sets and high reps to burn off stomach fat. You guessed it. This is also false. Spot reduction just isn’t going to happen as much as we’d all like it to. You can’t burn fat on your stomach by doing endless crunches. You need to put together a proper weight lifting program, nutrition plan, and cardio in order to rid your stomach of that stubborn layer of fat and bring yout your abs. Career Burnout And How To Resolve It

By Liselotte Molander Sarah is a highly effective, multitasking business professional with a strong passion for her work. She is also a loving and caring mother of three kids. Sarah is happily married to an equally busy man. They have lots of friends and an active life outside work. It sounds too good to be true! How does she manage? Some years ago Sarah was overwhelmed, frustrated, constantly tired and ready to stop her professional dreams. She worked over 60 hours per week, and tried desperately to catch up with dead lines and projects, meetings blended with business travel. She had difficulties to deliver in time, her occupational stress level was high and her job motivation was low. Sarahs performance declined. Her life was going in a downward, steep spiral. She was close to loosing her job, and to get a divorce, all at the same time, and she felt miserable. Sarah didnt want to give up. She understood she needed help to sort out the different parts in her life. She learned the 3 key secrets to how to solve career burnout: Secret #1: Sarah started with herself. By identifying her life goals and how she wanted to live her life she got a much clearer picture of her values and what was important to her. She focused on what was fun, and how she felt when she engaged in different tasks. Things that didnt feel good, she decided to delegate. She got clear in her strength and her true brilliance and when she incorporated that into her daily activities, life and work immediately started to go smoother. Secret #2: Living authentically is important to Sarah and she learned the keys to authentic communications, where there is no room for blame and conflicts. This had an impact in her professional life, as well as her private life. When she could communicate with her colleagues and team what she expected, and together they build their vision around the work to be done, the whole team got new energy and could perform from a higher level. Secret #3: Sarah decided that all parts of her were important. If she didnt feel good and was happy with her life, she decided that her family and children would suffer as well. Once she had the basic foundation laid (step 1 and 2) it was time for her to take care of herself, and her own personal and spiritual development. She decided to focus only on doing things that she really enjoyed doing, and the things she was a genius at. Once she got going her brilliance accelerated and not only is she reaping career success, she also has more money she could dream of. The journey was not on a highway, it was more on a bumpy road. Sarah decided that SHE was important and that she wanted to take charge over her life and career. Sarah decided she needed support, and not from anyone in the close family. She felt, even though they loved her deeply, they had their own involvement in her decisions. Her coach was neutral and could help her gain clarity and focus. Sarahs biggest challenge is still coping with stress at work, and to keep her life balance at the same time. The difference is that she now comes from a different place within. Sarah is grounded within herself and makes decisions based on what she loves to do, and what she does with ease, without effort and pain. Dont think that this is only possible for Sarah! It is possible for you too! I know, because Ive worked with so many clients with the same kind of history as Sarah. And, in fact, Ive been there myself. Take action now, and do something that will have an impact on your own work life balance! Low Carb Diet Food Is Vital For Your Weight Loss

By Tony Newton Due to the popularity of low carb diets, choosing the correct low carb diet food is vital to your weight loss. Many manufacturers have created their own range of products, but quite often what they put on the packaging doesn’t always give you an accurate count of the carbs included. As the main function of eating low carb diet food is to lose weight, then checking exactly what is contained in the foods you eat is a primary weight loss goal. Quite often if an item is labelled as “low carb” it can easily contain certain other items which will not suit your own personal diet program, such as high in fats or other substitutes. Many will be high in calories, even though they state they are suitable for a low carb diet. Because in effect, they are low in certain carbs but be high in other ingredients that will greatly effect your weight loss. So to help with choosing the correct low carb diet food, often cooking your own meals can be the answer. Then you are not relying on food labels and you will know exactly what it is you are eating. After all, if you are going to the trouble of buying your own low carb diet food and are serious about losing weight, then you should really know exactly what you are eating. As your main target should be to eat less calories than you burn off on your diet, knowing exactly how many calories you consume each day with low carb diet food becomes an integral part of most diet plans. So know your numbers, be focussed and most of all, enjoy being a fitter and healthy person. Find out how to lose 20 pounds in just 30 days with an easy low carb diet that anyone can follow. How Food Affects Mood

By Julia Jones The food one has clearly shows on the face. If you eat healthy food you have a glowing skin, shining hair and you look physically active. Not only that the food you have affects your mood too. The type of diet you have and the amount of calories you intake affects your mood. You feel stressed out or are in a light mood both have a connection to the type of food you take. You feel drowsy or active it too depends on the food you have. Diet plays a major role in influencing your mood. If you take in too much of calories during lunch time you feel lazy and drowsy. High calories taken during the day lowers the efficiency of a person and thus slows down the performance of the person. The size of a meal hampers the activity because fat slows down absorption and as blood flow to the stomach is increased for a longer period of time it results in less blood flow to the brain. The result is that you feel sleepy and lazy to work. Carbohydrates such as pasta, potatoes, candy and cereal have an anxiety reducing effect. This is the reason why people feel drowsy and sluggish after having such meals. The two other important brain chemicals that appear to be influenced by foods, dopamine and norepinephrine, produce a feeling of alertness, an increased ability to concentrate, and faster reaction times. There are two possible mechanisms for how this happens: (1) serotonin production is blocked by the consumption of protein-rich foods, resulting in increased alertness or concentration, or (2) levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are increased by the consumption of protein-rich foods. The effect of food is both stressful and healing. It has its positive as well as negative effects. There are food like chocolate and caffeine that provide excitement initially. Caffeine improves focus and is stimulating. The type of breakfast lunch or dinner you have makes all the difference in your mood. If you have a healthy breakfast that includes yogurt and fresh juices make you fell fresh and active. While a heavy lunch with extra calories and carbohydrates makes you feel lazy and sleepy. There are foods that make us feel calm and increase the energy levels. They also improve are concentration power and mental alertness. Then there are foods that can decrease energy and have a bad effect on the mood. The food has a direct effect in the body and brains. There are foods such as fish, meat and poultry that work as mental and energy boosters as they contain tyrosine, the amino acid that helps produce two neurotransmitters that have been linked to increased mental alertness. Then there are foods like potatoes that are rich in carbohydrates that relax you because they have the amino acid that helps produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter that eases anxiety and feelings of depression. The type of food you take is reflected in your health and mood. If you do not eat a balanced or healthy food you feel low. Your body looks out of shape and get a feeling of low self esteem. You feel stressed and unhappy without realizing the cause behind it the food you have. What Does A Water Glass Have To Do With The Storage Of Eggs

By Gary Palmer If you were to ask the above question the answer would be, “Absolutely nothing.” If, however, you were to rephrase that question only slightly, removing the “a” and asking, “What does Water Glass have to do with the storage of eggs?” the answer would be entirely different. In this case “water glass” does not refer to a tumbler of water, so remove from your mind that image of an egg inserted into a glass of cold water. Water was involved, but it was only as a medium into which a chemical could be mixed. “Water Glass” was that chemical. Popular in the days of pre-refrigeration, it provided a very practical food storage tool. The Reliance Ink Company of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada was one of a number of firms that made Water Glass commercially available. Normally sold in small cans, it was designed specifically for the storage of eggs. Instructions, as imprinted on the one pound tin, were simple. Thoroughly dissolve 1 pound of Reliance Water Glass in 1 gallon of water. Fill receptacle about one-third full of the above solution, and put in clean fresh eggs as they are collected. Never use cracked or broken eggs. The receptacle used should be wooden, crockey, or enamel, as iron or tin will rust. Always keep it well covered. If some of the liquid evaporates, add water as necessary, always mixing well. The eggs should at all times be well covered with the solution. If warm water is used to assist in mixing the Water Glass, it should be allowed to become cold before using. The end result was a solution in which eggs would effectively have their pores sealed, thereby sealing out oxygen and moisture. The lack of oxygen inhibited bacterial growth, preventing spoiling. It was said that “fresh” eggs could be kept up to two years. It might be asked why anyone would want to keep eggs for up to two years. Well, most didn’t. Six months to a year, however, was a practical option. In the days before large flocks and artificially enhanced daylight hours, hens tended to lay more eggs during the longer days of summer. With the arrival of winter and its shorter days egg laying would often significantly decrease. A ready supply of stored, fresh eggs would then come in most handy. It would also protect from the higher prices that would often accompany decreased availability. There were some drawbacks. The Reliance Company, for instance, warned its customers that “when eggs have been preserved for a long time in Water Glass their shells become somewhat brittle and non-porous, and when put in boiling water are likely to crack.” It was recommended that users prick the eggs with a pin prior to the boiling so as to allow expanding air to escape. As well, as they aged, whites became thinner and yolks more delicate. In practical terms, that meant that where once the eggs could be used for any usage including poaching, soft boiling, and frying, by the end of their storage life recommended usage was limited to scrambling, custards and “general cookery.” Water Glass is the trade name of sodium silicate. It is said to be still available through druggists or poultry supply stores, but its use is certainly not as widespread as it once was. My wife and I maintain www.storeitfoods.com, a website dedicated to making available information and tools related to food storage and preparation. Home for us is a small acreage near the Canadian community of Brandon, Manitoba. Planning Your Honeymoon

By Nola Redd With the hustle and bustle of picking out the right dress, cake, and flowers, the honeymoon often gets only passing consideration. Most people pick out a nice vacation spot, make reservations, and give the trip little more thought. But the time you spend together on your honeymoon is the first time you will spend together as husband and wife, and deserves a little more thought. In earlier customs, a newly married couple spent time alone together to be certain they could survive the strain. Today, most divorces are filed after family vacations after a couple spends time alone together (or together with their children). As an engaged couple, you probably cant imagine disliking your spouse, but statistics show that many people wind up feeling that way. Why not take the necessary steps to make sure your marriage starts off on the right foot? Thirty minutes of discussion can ensure a smoother honeymoon. The first thing you want to discuss is what you both plan to do while together. Frankly, when most people think of a honeymoon, they think of sex. But if you have one person who was planning to spend the trip cuddling and another who planned to go snorkeling, you will have a tense trip indeed. As newlyweds, you will most likely spend more time in bed than you would on a traditional family vacation. The question is, do you plan to stay in your room 24/7, or interact with the world? Once you have decided on activities, you can look at locations. If you both intend to spend your time inside your room, you might consider springing for a luxury suite with full-scale room service and a dining room downstairs. At the same time, you wouldnt need to be in a resort location, which would balance the cost. On the other hand, if you both want to spend some time in a room and sometime exploring your locale, then you need to decide where, precisely, you want to go. Do you want to visit an ocean location, a place in the mountains, or a site that has emotional ties for you both? Picking your location can give you an idea of what other activities scuba diving, snorkeling, horseback riding you have to choose from. You should also take mealtime into consideration. My husband and I chose a place with a full kitchen stove, microwave, and fridge and only one restaurant within an hours drive. This turned out to be a serious mistake. There was also only one grocery store, a mom n pop type place, within an hours drive, and it came with a poor selection. I hadnt realized that when my fiance said we were going to the middle of nowhere, he meant it. I would have preferred to eat dinner out each night and save my experiments in cooking for our first few days at home. But cooking may be a dream for you. If so, make sure that you can get the supplies you need within a reasonable location. And, as mentioned before, if you want to spend most of your time in the hotel room, choose a place with an attached dining room and/or room service. You may have a limited budget to work with, or someone may have already selected the destination for your honeymoon. The important thing is that you sit down with your spouse-to-be and communicate what expectations you each have. The last thing you want is to fight over what to do on your honeymoon. Although you may enjoy getting a head start on the making up! Nola Redd is a freelance writer. You can view more of her fiction and nonfiction writings at her Writing.com portfolio. Restaurants – Pizza Parlors

By Michael Russell If you live in the United States, you can’t drive for more than two blocks in any major city or town without seeing a pizza parlor. You would think that they were giving away gold at these places the way they’re packed throughout the day. So what is it with these establishments that Americans just can’t get enough of them? We’ll take a look at some of the finer points of your not so finer eating place. For one thing, pizza parlors, sometimes referred to as pizzerias, are open much later than most of your other restaurants in the states, except maybe for your late night diner, which we’ll cover in another article. Pizza parlors are many times open til past midnight. Most don’t even open until after 12 noon as very few people have pizza for breakfast, though I am sure there are some people who would eat it then too. As for the food itself, well, that really depends on the parlor itself. They are not all the same. The smaller ones usually don’t have much of a selection. As a matter of fact, there are some pizza parlors that only have maybe two or three varieties of pizza. The most common ones for the small parlor are plain, sausage and pepperoni. Maybe you’ll get an extra cheese as well, but that’s about it. Also, with these really small places, most of which you can find on the beaches, they don’t even sell whole pies. It’s by the slice and that’s it. And don’t expect anything other than a slice of pie and a soda or fruit drink. As we work our way up to the larger places, the next size parlor will usually have a couple more varieties and also make whole pies. These places will usually have a soda case where you can pick out from a variety of drinks. Or you can order a fountain drink as well. The prices of these parlors are also usually a little lower than the places that only sell slices because they work on a higher profit margin since they don’t have as much product. Finally, we get to the really large pizza parlors. These places will have just about every type of pie you can think of including mushroom, anchovy, broccoli, Sicilian and a host of others. You can usually see the variety of slices lined up on the counter as you walk in. But pizza isn’t where these places stop. You can also get a host of other items such as hot and cold subs. The hot subs are usually meatball and sausage. The cold subs are a variety of cold cuts such as roast beef, turkey, salami and ham as well as a number of cheeses that they cover these with. And then finally, many of the large parlors have hot meals as well such as spaghetti and meatballs, ziti and linguini and clam sauce. Their drink selection is also usually off the charts as well. Of course if you just want a plain slice of pizza, in the good old US of A, you can go just about anywhere.
